Eileen was a devoted wife to Reggie and is a devoted step-mom to sons Shawn and Reggie, Jr. Eileen met Reggie at their job and after a softball game the rest was history. For someone who didn't think marriage was in the cards for him (bachelor for life LOL), he became smitten with Eileen. Everyone around them felt and saw their love for each other. They didn't have to say anything - just the looks they gave each other or Reggie letting out a "Hootie Hoo" and you just knew they were soulmates. They lit up the room when they were in it. They brought life and love to each other's lives and on a beautiful day in July they were married with so much love all around them from family and friends. When Eileen lost Reg so suddenly it was like her heart shattered into pieces that would never fit back together the same way again. She wanted to do something to honor his memory so through some help from his friend Darryl Brunson a golf tournament was formed. Most of the people who volunteer or play in the tournament never knew Reggie but through the stories we tell they know a little more about the wonderful man, father, husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend.
Darryl (otherwise known as DB) played football with Reggie at Duke University back in the day. They had kept in touch over the years and even talking just days before Reg passed. When Reggie passed, DB was one of the first people to stop by and give condolences to Eileen and family. He kept popping back over checking on her and bringing various staples like toilet paper, paper towels, water, and ice cream - the things no one thinks to bring. When many of Reg's friends and family said they couldn't come to the house because it was too hard for them, DB would always show up to check in on Eileen. So when she started to brainstorm about how to create an event to raise money for our youth and do it in memory of her late husband, DB was there to lend help and support. He has been instrumental in getting us a golf course who welcomed us, raffle items, gifts and prizes for golfers and getting us golfers who want to play among many other things.
